We hold an annual scratchcard fundraiser for our church, church schools, and our sports teams. They raise money for trips, equipment etc. Each year is unique and presents it’s own challenges but we always have fun and end up with great stories and success.
One of the things we do each year is have a buddy system. We don’t send an individual out trying to raise money alone, we find this works very well. We also have our own donated prizes to give away weekly and at the end for the most successful, best story, best spirit. If we’re able to make it fun and not a task we get far greater results. Of course we always involve the parents in the process, but we try to make sure the children are the ones in charge. They’re so creative, if you simply let them come up with some good ideas, and help them to develop them, they’ll do great.
One thing we always make sure of is that we don’t allow anyone to fail at this. We partner a slower or shy person with an outgoing stronger one, etc.. We also try to have programs that ensure everyone is able to reach their goals, which we help them set. We find that in later years they’ll remember being successful and will look forward to the task at hand rather then dreading it.
We are always able to raise the funds we need. I believe our record for fundraising to date is just over $12,000
